OC Rescue Mission Runner Testimonial

We were so excited to see this individual finish the race.  She worked extremely hard through out the training.  We have heard that she is continuing to run even after the race.  We are so excited to see how this program is causing not just a one time change in her life but a change in lifestyle.

We are looking forward to our running programs starting up this summer and hope you will be a part of it by volunteering to run, sponsoring a runner or possibly donating water or supplies to help us out.

We are very proud of this runner and it was great to see her finish.  She finished the race along with her mother.  She started the training half heartedly and often times her mom had to drag her out to our early morning training.

We think she is going to do some great things in life and we hope that this accomplishment will spur her on to success in life and in her relationship with God.

Mother and Son

This is one of my favorite interviews. Ashley just finished the race and her medal is being worn by her son. We often tell our runners that you are not running just for yourself but for your family. Show them that you can accomplish this amazing goal. And whenever you feel like giving up or tell yourself that you cannot do it, then think of what it will feel like when you cross the finish line and can put the medal around your son or daughters neck.

This is the reason that we hold these training programs. This program gives these kids or individuals living at these shelters an opportunity to realize they can accomplish something big and hopefully it will carryover into other areas of their lives. If they can run 13.1 miles then they can get a job, go to college or purchase their own home. It just takes time, an unwillingness to give up and continued progress towards the goal, kind of like running a half marathon.

Testimonial – Charles

Dear Coaches Steve, Melinda and Darren:

Thank you for your gracious commitment of thirteen weeks plus for training and conditioning me. I will deeply treasure the time and talent you shared and I owe a deep gratitude to each of you for your personal sacrifices. Steve, I have the framed certificate you presented to me with the finishing medal in my room to give me hope and inspiration daily. The immense blessings I have received, I give to the glory of God in my prayer and work.

Three quick months ago, I had not put on running shoes in over a decade. Last weekend, reenergized me. My plan is to continue to run. Please know each of you and the group remain in my prayers daily.

I hope to see you at the 8th Annual OCRM/VOH 5k Fun-Run/Walk on Saturday, March 26, 2011.

Sincerely,

Charles
